FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long does the photography take?

Ultimately, you remain in control of how much time you wish to spend taking photographs on your wedding day, but in order for us to get some of the beautiful images you see here, we will need to dedicate a little time. We would usually recommend that we take you away for half an hour to get some personal pictures, and to give you a small break. It will be a very busy day otherwise, and you’ll be glad for the time out! We are more than happy to dedicate more time if you wish. The rest of the time, we will be simply photographing what we see, with minimal intrusion on your day. We will, of course, help you plan this photography time from the outset and provide you with a written itinerary of this. This whole process helps to make sure you are in no way pushed for time. It is your day, so we do everything we can to make sure you enjoy it!

How long do you stay?

As we specialise in full day, storybook albums, we believe the photographer should be there all day. We do not charge our fee depending on how long you wants us for…we will be there for as long as you want us to be! We are always surprised to find photographers charging for their time, as we believe that this should not be a factor. The only thing we ask is that as we are there all day, could you please provide us with a hot meal during the main course of your wedding breakfast. This allows us to remain on site to take photographs during the meal.

Simply put, you are there all day, you cherish your photography, so we should be there all day too!

How many photos do you take?

We take many photos during the day, often in excess of 1000, which are then edited to select the best. A typical wedding may have about 250-350 photos to chose from, all of which are fully edited as we would want you to see them.

What if we don't really like our photo being taken?

That’s OK! We find a lot of our clients say the same. Our style of photography is to be relaxed and have some fun when we need to photograph you alone, but for the rest of the day, we capture you in natural situations without you knowing. It is very different to having a picture taken by “Uncle Bob”! Many couples have never had professional photographs before. The pre-wedding shoot is very important in the process to help relax you, ready for the big day, by which point you’ll be working with us and striking a pose without thinking! Well maybe not, but you’ll be having much more fun with it!

Where is the pre-wedding shoot?

This will usually be in Dorset. We are based in Christchurch which is a beautiful place to get away for the day or weekend and we are surrounded by amazingly picturesque areas. Beaches, parks and the New Forest are only a short drive away. It will be a great opportunity to forget about the stresses of the wedding planning, to get to know us, and to enjoy some gorgeous photographs of yourselves!

We are not sure we want loads of group photographs...

This is not a problem! In fact, group photographs often take a very long time to set up, which simply eats into your day. We would recommend only having a limited number of photographs of close family or friends, say up to 6, so that you can get on with your day. We often capture shots of groups through the day anyway and we find our clients prefer these spur-of-the-moment pictures.

As for the “whole group” shot, this is also becoming more obsolete. What we have found is that they take 20 minutes to set up one shot, people don’t want to be in it, and that the bride and groom often then overlook the image anyway. We are happy to take it but we would ask you to make sure it is what you want before committing to it. We would also ask that any ushers you may have are on hand to help with the organisation of this.

How many photos do we get?

There is no specific limit to the amount of images we place into one album, but we will never look to overcrowd or degrade a page by adding too many images. This means that the album style and size dictates how many images we can fit in. The smallest album generally gives you about 70 images, while the largest possibly over 150. Of course, you can always add more pages to get as many images as possible, with the exception of the Artemis albums which are limited to 20 spreads as standard.

Will we have to sit down and chose from hundreds of images?

Not at all. This process take an inordinate amount of time to do and can often delay the album by months. The way we work means we put together a draft version of your album to be viewed at the same time as your pictures. Your pictures will arrive in a personal proof book (except for Artemis which will be online only), along with a low resolution draft PDF of your album on CD. This mean you can see what we think is the best layout and design for your album without having to pore over hundreds of images first. You are then free to change as much as you like…although we are proud to say our clients rarely change much at all as they are so happy with them!

Do you carry spare equipment?

Absolutely. We carry spare camera bodies and enough lenses to cover all eventualities. If there is a fault with the equipment, the backup would ensure seamless coverage without you knowing there was ever a problem.

Are you insured?

Yes. I am professionally insured with public liability and professional indemnity insurance.

What areas do you cover?

We will go wherever you want us to! We have covered weddings in Europe and of course the UK so far but we are always open to travel. We are based in Christchurch, Dorset, but will cover weddings within the M25 boundary, Kent, Dorset, Wiltshire and Hampshire without travel charges. Any fuel charges will be discussed with you when we first meet, along with any hotels should they be needed. These will only ever be at cost and in the best value hotels we can find as we appreciate that costs need to be kept to a minimum wherever possible. We can, of course, put together a personal quote for a location wedding so please give us a call!

How do we reserve our date?

First, please Contact us to check availability and to discuss your requirements. Once you are happy, your date will be reserved for a booking fee of £250. We are sorry but cannot reserve any date without this deposit. The remainder of your package cost will be due two weeks before your wedding date.
